This was tested in phpBB3 and it works.  Specially you can use this for spammers who come with names that are vulgar or userIDs that you do not want showing in your list of users.

Go to Users&Groups / Prune Users
Click the “Find a Member” link
Checkmark the users to delete.
Click “Select marked”
Select Delete
Submit.

I only add items to this list where I have checked and intalled the software myself or a site that I have been to and found it to be very useful for opensource hunters.

This blog entry is often edited to add more and more to my collection.

  1. SourceForge.nethttp://sourceforge.net – what can I say about this site. Check it out for yourself.
  2. phpBBhttp://phpBB.com – Extremely Powerful forums and great support community.
  3. Joomla – Websites with one of the largest number of extensions/addons.
  4. Tufat – Fabulous site with a bunch of php scripts. Some free and some for $5.  If you buy more than one you get major discounts too. Cheap and good I call it! Check out his dating php script called osDate. its Free!
  5. Simple Machines Forumhttp://www.simplemachines.org/ - Excellent forum software. I have only tested it but I am not using it anywhere yet.
  6. Drupalhttp://drupal.org/ – A good CMS which is compatible with Joomla. In some cases even better.
  7. ForumMatrixhttp://www.forummatrix.org – Excellent site to compare forum softwares out there. Most forum software are free and opensource. If you are not sure which forum to put on your website or which forum is the best – then this site is the place for you.  Also check out this link but I am not sure how often it is updated :  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Internet_forum_software_%28PHP%29
  8. OpenSourceCMShttp://php.opensourcecms.com/ – This website has a huge collection of OpensourceCMS infromation. If you are looking for opensource software for different purpose, this site might have the information for you.
  9. More coming…. Check back again please.

Feel free to leave me comments and more links as I build this list.  I will add your entries (those that I approve of to my list)                                         :)
